SPS IPC Drives is Europe’s leading event for the industry of electrical automation. Security systems manufacturer Schmersal chose this event to present their new product AZM400 in November of 2015. We were commissioned by the agency wisuell wigge.kommunikation to put into reality their concept to visualize the new product.
We developed an interactive sliding door, that could be opened and closed mechanically. The setup involved a 55” mutlitouch screen which we mounted onto a custom made aluminum rail. Sensors were installed to register the screens position at all times. If the sliding door was open, the screen showed a loop animation. If the door was slid shut, the presentation started in sync with the movement and a menu opened to allow for the interactive navigation. Visitors could browse through images, animations and texts which explained the security system AZM400 and its functionalities and range of applications.
A special highlight was the fact that we integrated the actual product into our application. If the sliding door was closed, a button appeared in the presentation to allow users to operate the closing device interactively and physically lock the door in place. Only after opening the mechanism could the door be moved again.
